  • Turkey - including Istanbul, Fethiye, Antalya) and The Lycian Way Trail - (see actual hike route below). The 555 km footpath around the coast of Lycia in southern Turkey, from Fethiye to Antalya (Geyikbayiri). Will take between 20 -30 days. Cowboy camping is allowed all along the trail LEGALLY and we will be staying at a hostel or lodging every fourth or fifth day to clean up, rest up, etc. Info here, and big time here, and their official site here. HERE is the full trek on AllTrails with downloadable maps using their app and offline. Article on the trail from CNN here
  • Portugal - The Portuguese Camino - from Porto to Lisbon (or from Santiago de Compostela to Lisbon. or vice versa). It is coastal route, and is around 280 KM's. We will be hiking the entire trail. Will be a blast. Santiago OR Porto, into Lisboa.
  • Lisbon, Portugal - World Youth Day - Lisbon August 1-6. *optional*, (but we could time it to coincide with our Camino finish). I have been to one in Denver, and it was incredible. I met people from every walk of life from all over the world.
  • Laos - Eco Tour, (Luang Prabang) - Biking, Hiking, Elephants, Kayaking & Hilltribe Homestays (will be housed by locals, work in their fields and with them and they will cook for us, we will hike into the village and stay with host families)
  • Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh Trail MotorBike Tour and self tours of Saigon with the Củ Chi tunnels, which were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam war, not to mention the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tết Offensive in 1968. We will also take a guided tour of the Mekong Delta, and have plenty of time to explore the city and outlying areas while in Vietnam. LAOS/VIETNAM PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED
  • Japan - (Tokyo, Nara, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto) So much to see, here are some highlights and we can decide as we move along from Tokyo on and exactly what we can do with a tour guide or group. We have to be with a tour company based in Japan obviously; but currently figuring out if we can hire just one guide, obviously English speaking, to take us to everywhere we want to go in Japan, rather than be in buses and vehicles getting shuttled from one area to another, with other people, etc. *Please apply for an E-VISA through this link soon after registering for this trek, HERE. These are new protocols now for Americans to enter Japan post-Covid. We will tour the majority of the island including the towns the US incinerated during WW2, as well as climb Mt. Fuji. There will also be a large culinary tour for us in Japan, and we will stay with a host family, rather than impersonal Airbnb and hotels. (Mt. Fuji is self guided and there is no need for a tour company or a professional guide to take us) Official Site for Mt. Fuji - HERE and US Embassy info and numbers HERE in regard to Fuji. We will finish away from the bustle of the city, with a few days (most likely guided with Japan's current restrictions), in Chubu-Sangaku National Park, with the backdrop of the Japanese Alps. The cost next year is significantly higher then RTW last summer, even without food excluded, as we have many more professionally guided events within the trek. For Japan, tourism is only allowed in cases where group travelers are sponsored by a travel agent or agency, and/or are part of an authorized travel group located in Japan. So that is not going to be cheap either. But with all the right paperwork, and a Japan govt recognized tour agency, we should have no issue traveling to and into Japan. PROFESSIONALLY GUIDED WITH TREKKING/TOUR GROUP
  • Australia and New Zealand - more info and specific trekking guided tour in New Zealand in September as that is finalized. (These two places will be the last portion of your round the world trek, and obviously the largest part of the budget will be in this section.

RTW trek will depart sometime 27-29. RTW 1/2 treks that start other than in the US, your flight will be to that area and will meet those on the full rtw itinerary. MISCELLANEOUS INFO

The Second RTW Trek will be opened to five participants only. Logistically for discounts in our price range, we MUST have four signed up to make this work. Five is max, plus myself; so 6 total. 6 Is a good number, 5 works too. The itinerary is below, (but is not limited to the below), and more or less listed in the order we will do the events and/or countries. The below is fully inclusive in the trek price and after the trek roster is finalized, the group can talk about taking any places off or adding any places or countries on :). This is a basic run down of the trek and events within the trek. This is a GIANT, BOATLOAD OF STUFF and PLACES, including several treks within a trek. (or expeditions or tours or climbs within the RTW trek itself), so note our return may be well over 90 days. So if you need to be back before the 90 day period, please let me know, so I can arrange separate flights for you to return stateside. [Note: This is our second year doing this; hence the 2.0. We navigated the sea of Covid and did nearly all of out itinerary with the exception of China and Australia and New Zealand for obvious reasons during Covid. China sadly is out for 2.0, maybe 3.0?, but Japan is 100% included, as is New Zealand and Australia, are 100% part of the itinerary.

COVID Note: Covid and its restrictions can change at any time, and thus our ability to not go to a certain area of the world, that is NOW included, but at the time of us departing, may change, IS AT THE SOLE DISCRETION of that govt health department. If there are any issues that arise, and you are upset by this decision to re-route to a different area, please take your grievance up with that particular govt agency. Thank you in advance :)]

ALL INCLUSIVE (EXCEPT AS LISTED HEREIN) - (DOES NOT INCLUDE FOOD OR SNACKS, BREAKFAST OR LUNCHES) Will include the occasional group dinner that will be included in the all-inclusive price, ie. initial arrival in each new destination. Food for camping along Lycian Way and Camino, will be bought in LIDL/ALDI type stores and will cook our own food on trail. If you are under 17 you will have to have a meal plan. Please contact to arrange a supplemental price for that, unless specific parental permission is given. (All participants will eat when they are hungry and be responsible for their own sustenance while on trek).

DURATION:  90 DAYS+

DATESMAY 29, 2024 - AUGUST 29+, 2024

COST:   $13,000 USD  (All-Inclusive, except where indicated below) Payment Plans, Small Grants available for those who qualify

BALANCES: Payment plans available. (Cash is ok too) Discounts for anyone that pays for treks in full in advance.

COVID: Fully vaccinated with a booster, last shot not older than 270 days. OR bring a Covid bank so you can get antigen test in airports before or after arrival, etc. You will be responsible to know what countries require what Covid test if you come unvaccinated or not current with vaccinations. It does not matter to me in the least if you are vaccinated, but you must be to do this trek, or you might end up having to fly back to the states or wherever you have signed up from. It's for ease of traveling during these changing times. Japan's Covid restrictions change often. TREK MAY CHANGE FOR ANY REASON, COVID HEAVY INCLUDED, AND TREK LENGTH MAY BE EXTENDED PENDING ANY COVID CHANGES, RESTRICTIONS OR QUARANTINES WHEN TRAVELING. There is currently a five day quarantine on arrival to Japan, and its doubtful that will NOT change by the time we get there next year.

VISAS: [please see above for more visa info] Please apply in advance for a VISA for Japan, which is now needed post covid to travel there. You will have to visit a Japanese Embassy in the states or DC or in your area or apply for an e-visa HERE. (Starting August 18, Japan will introduce a new eVisa system to allow U.S. citizens to resume travel to Japan. U.S. citizens who wish to travel to Japan for group tourism, business, cultural exchanges, and family visitation may apply for a single-entry visa online. Applicants will need to create an account online and complete the electronic questionnaire. The eVisa is valid for three months. The application and review process may take an extended period of time. As such, the Japanese government suggests applying well in advance of your planned trip.)  All other visas will be paid by Turtles High Adventure, on site, at airport or in advance and be forwarded, emailed or given to you as a stamp at Immigration areas.
